With all his accomplishments as a lawyer, delegate to the Continental Congress, committee member for the drafting of the Articles of Confederation, and signer of the Declaration of Independence, the following line tells me what kind of man he was.
But he gave up the practice of law to care for Margaret and their growing children. As her health continued to decline, he gradually withdrew from public life. When Margaret died in 1787, he became depressed and died less than four months later in Alexandria, reportedly of a “broken heart”.
Only 44 at his death he left a legacy and a mark on history. Not much is known about his life in total but I believe Thomas was probably working on all 8 F’s in his life. We know he was strong in Family, Freedom, and Finance.
